Descrierea cursului

30 hours of classes per week: 4 hours in the morning with the group (5 students maximum at the same level of Spanish), and 2 hours in the afternoon on a one-to-one basis.

The group classes consist of highly structured grammar lessons, interactive activities, conversation and written exercises.

Specific homework assignments are given daily and every student is evaluated and tested on a weekly basis. In the one-to-one classes the student gets to focus on the topics in which he or she needs the most support, which will help him or her progress more quickly in a shorter time.

This program include homestay accommodation.

The city of Quito is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by the snow capped peaks of the Andes, it is a Franciscan city and surprisingly friendlier and safer feeling than other large Latin American cities. Furthermore, it has kept its colonial charm in spite of growing to the size of 1 million.
The temperature is determinate by the altitude and the averages 60-70 during the day and 50 during the night.

The Academia Latinoamericana in QUITO, is set in the residential area of La Carolina, next to La Carolina
park (great place for students since they can practice sports such us soccer, basket, volley, jogging, aerobics, roller skating, etc and about 10.000 quitenos practice sports specially Saturday and Sunday), it is also close to the Metropolitan park, the biggest green area in Quito, which is a great place to go in order to do some jogging, running, mountain biking and have a fantastic view of the valley of Quito.

The school is located is a small street called Noruega, which is a residential area, full of good restaurants,
galleries, five shooping centers, many hotels around the school, several internet cafes, and much more!

"The teachers are wonderful"

Everyone working at the school is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. My teacher was wonderful and I improved my Spanish because of her. I also appreciated that the school organized weekly trips for the students. I didn’t stay with a host family so cannot speak to that. Quito’s school is located in a safe area of the city with many eateries nearby.

Something that I didn’t like, but didn’t color my experience at all, was that class never started on time. I realize that I am carrying my culture’s expectations about time with me, but I still felt that I should have gotten the full 4 hours of class daily.

"A great way to start off my stay in Ecuador."

I liked the intimacy of the classes (we were just 3 students and stayed together as a group for the 3 weeks I attended classes). We spoke exclusively in Spanish, which was a great way to get used to speaking the language. The teachers were wonderful, different in their styles, but very personable. I enjoyed our discussions about culture, politics, science and the environment. There was homework every night - it felt like the right amount to reinforce the day's instruction.

I felt very welcomed by the school as well as the host family. They all had so much patience to help me master the basics of Spanish. I would definitely recommend to book private lessons as well as home stay, it is a great way to learn about the Ecuadorian culture and habits. Loved every minute!

"Great start to learning Spanish"

At the homestay you have a private bedroom and are provided half board (breakfast and dinner in Ecuador). There are also host families who accommodate couples or families with children.

If you’re the kind of person who likes your independence, then our own student residence directly on the school campus is the perfect type of accommodation for you. You are accommodated in a single or double room and a fully equipped kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals. The communal area with tv, dvd player, books and table games is a great place to socialize and meet other students from all over the world.
